Italian Poultry Week (24-28 November 2025)
The Italian Branch of the WPSA was pleased to organize the first edition of Italian Poultry Week, an initiative aimed at engaging young (under 40) academic researchers and industry professionals in educational activities led by industry experts and leading scientists in the field of poultry production. The event was held from 24 to 28 November 2025 in the historical building of the University Residential Center of Bertinoro (Forlì-Cesena, Italy).

More
than 35 applications were received from industry technicians and young researchers, confirming the strong interest in this new initiative. A full-immersion program was designed to address the current challenges and discuss the main innovations and sustainable practices in the poultry meat and egg sectors. Lecturers from both the academia and industry were invited to address topics like genetics, breeding and incubation, nutrition, sustainability, product quality, animal welfare and precision farming.
The final day of the event, which was open to all members of the Italian Branch and invited guests, was enriched by the presence of two distinguished speakers such as Birger Svihus and Carlos Garcés-Narro, who held lectures about precision nutrition in poultry production and taste mechanism in birds. The participation of both speakers was supported by the WPSA through the Speakers’ Bureau Programme.
Then, a session was dedicated to Italian PhD students and young post-doctoral researchers, who had the opportunity to present their research projects and engage with participants.
The Italian Branch is committed to sharing the outcomes and insights of Italian Poultry Week with other branches and to supporting them in the organization of similar initiatives.
